Grammy-nominated electronic band Bob Moses put a new twist on the livestreaming concerts that have become a staple of entertainment during the pandemic with their Falling Into Focus – Live 2020 concert. Teaming up with Twitch and CTRL5, Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance streamed an hour-long performance on October 23rd from the top of an abandoned radio tower in Topanga, California. The audacious live event evolved throughout the set as the duo made their way down the tower while the sun set, adding and subtracting artists until they made it all the way to ground.
This show represents the band’s second project with the creative agency CTRL5, whose founder Owen Brown directed this concert film as well as the groundbreaking interactive music video for their song “Desire.” In a press release, Owen Brown described his idea of the show,
“[it] represents the future of livestream-style content, in that it was made over the course of months to be as thrilling to watch as a concert is to attend. With live music not coming back anytime soon because of the pandemic, my goal was to make something at that standard — and I think we’ve come close.”
If you missed the livestream, don’t worry because the full film was released on YouTube on November 20th. To go along with the film, the band also released a new live album of the same name, which is out on Domino Records and features the full-length set in addition to an exclusive band version of the titular track from their latest album, Desire.
