Normally, technology doesn’t really surprise us anymore, but an “Ultrasonic” experimental jet launch failed this morning after being flown for only 9 minutes over the Pacific Ocean. The plane, which actually looks like an arrowhead is called the Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2. Apparently, the Pentagon’s research arm conducting the tests, known as Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA tweeted today that “range assets have lost telemetry,” meaning that things went awry. I can’t figure out what’s crazier, the fact that this plane can go 20 times faster than the speed of sound and landed (AFTER 9 MINUTES) 4,000 miles away, or that DARPA has a twitter!
