Band You Need To Know: REPTAR

Indeed, a name like Reptar is not a lost pop-culture reference on ANYONE that grew up in the 1990’s and had cable television. Hailing from Athens, Georgia, and cut from the same cloth as Of Montreal, Prince, Animal Collective, Architecture in Helsinki and The Talking Heads, comes this quirky four-piece. Instant dance-y songs fly by way too quickly on Reptar’s  scant 5 song debut EP, Oblangle Fizz Y’all.  Layers of samples twirl and intermingle with bouncy bass lines. Synths sing back and forth with lead-singer, and native Brazilian, Andrew McFarland’s interesting vocal deliveries. Drums pound and pulse while saxaphones wail on Context Clues, but the stand out track to this reporter is the song, Stuck In My Id.
