BABO BABY, also known as Jesse Merineau, is a singer-songwriter born in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. He is now poised to embark on a fresh musical journey, bringing to life a vision he has long dreamed of.
Merineau‘s past indie-rock act quickly gained traction, captivating audiences and selling out numerous concerts. He achieved a significant milestone by signing with the renowned label Blanco Y Negro in Spain, reaching many of his initial career goals. The pandemic’s impact on live performances, coupled with evolving musical tastes, prompted Merineau to pursue a new project.
After a decade in the industry, he leveraged his network to create BABO BABY, collaborating with DJs and producers from Paris, LA, Seoul, and New Zealand. This project features modern-futuristic pop instrumentals and lyrics inspired by his new love from South Korea, marking a significant evolution in his musical journey.

1. What did you enjoy most about the recording process of this new release?
I loved stepping out of my comfort zone and creating something fresh. Working with a circle of people I truly enjoy collaborating with made the process even more special.
2. Share a nugget of advice that has resonated with you most over the years.
Write music that genuinely makes you happy, not just what you think others want to hear. There are plenty of people out there who will connect with your authentic lyrics and sound. You won’t regret it.
3. Who would be your dream artist/band to co-headline a tour with?
It has to be Harry Styles.
4. What sets your music apart from others in your genre?
Coming into the pop scene from an indie rock background gives my music a unique edge, influencing my sound, structure, and overall vibe.
5. Tell us what your favorite song is at the moment and why.
“Run Your Mouth” by The Marias. I can’t get it out of my head—it’s just so catchy.
