It might be hard to believe Lovechild, a NYC-based psych-rock trio made up of frontman Leo Lovechild, guitarist Aaron Mones and bassist/producer Wyatt Mones, is new to releasing music with a single like “Hats Off.” But “Hats Off” is the band’s first formal release to be shared from their coming debut record promised later this year.
Technically, “Hats Off” is older than the band itself. “It’s the song that birthed the band in the first place,” explains frontman Leo Lovechild. The creative writing exploration ultimately led Leo to the epiphany that songwriting is the ultimate form of self-expression, and thus, Lovechild was born.
The video, directed by Jack Tumen, bounces between a black-and-white stroll through Times Square, a proper nod to their hometown, and strobe-filled vibrant flashes of color, while Leo bears his soul in the face of heartbreak and rejection.
An angsty, rock n’ roll anthem, “Hats Off” formally introduces Lovechild to the world. Check out the official music video, and find the digital single out next Friday, June 5th. Keep up with the band via their official Instagram channel for more information on future releases.
