Claudio Conti is an Italian songwriter. He was born on October 25, 1981 under the sign of Scorpio. His main influences come from the Sixties L.A.’s and San Francisco’s psychedelic rock scenes as well as songwriters from the same decade such as Tim Buckley, Tim Hardin, Gene Clark, John Lennon and Nick Drake.

Conti began writing songs and honing his craft in 2003. He released a pair of EPs in 2008-2009 and joined a project called Magic Salad at the turn of the 2010s which helped build his confidence as a frontman and allowed him to spread his wings creatively.

After a two year hiatus living in different cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and London he then moved back to Italy and released officially his first full-length album as a solo artist, ‘Saltworks’, via label Seahorse Recordings. In 2017 he released an internationally acclaimed follow-up, ‘Garnet Dusk,’ where he opens up about various chaotic experiences that occurred in his early-mid thirties.

His new album ‘Frail Boats’ – out in April – is definitely his most mature and ambitious record to date. He hopes to tour with a band in Europe and the United States to promote it after its release. Today we are thrilled to premiere his new video for “Wrest” – streaming below! The video opens in silence before Conti’s striking vocals take over. It’s a compelling video for an equally compelling song. There’s an incredible amount of talent and skill on display on “Wrest.”

In his own words:

“[Wrest] mainly explains how urban life mechanisms and inner workings can trap your pureness and integrity so easily. All those technological devices are made for your comfort but you’re not even able to watch the sun anymore because it becomes just a disruptive element in your day instead of a vital vitamin and resource. The more you’re sincere the more you’ll be swallowed by a dirty, careless whirlpool.”
