Moon Bounce is the mutant-pop alias of producer, songwriter and vocalist, Corey Regensburg. Taking cues from dance music, R&B, and even the rhythmic lurch of metal, his output combines soulful melodies with jilted percussion and hyper-controlled synthesis. Obsessed with groove and occasionally on the verge of falling apart, his sonic palette has always been constructed completely from scratch.
Gaining notoriety from a slew of EPs, Regensburg’s ambitious compositions and cutting, self-referential lyrical content struck a chord with those looking for more substance with their beats. The music video for lead single “Shake” was nominated for The Berlin Music Video Awards alongside artists like Franz Ferdinand and Katy Perry, its depiction of a “puppet bloodbath” a jarring piece of black comedy.
Releasing a series of singles on Ryan Hemsworth’s ‘Secret Songs’ imprint as well as London’s ‘Activia Benz’ and Steve Aoki’s ‘Dim Mak’, Regensburg’s debut LP, Clean House was adored by a fanbase chomping at the bit.
Following nearly three years of silence and a battle with anxiety disorder, Moon Bounce has put the finishing touches on his much-anticipated sophomore full-length, entitled Skip Intro. After moving to Los Angeles, marrying his favorite rapper (Cape Town’s fiery Push Push) and signing with the legendary Domino Publishing, he’s been in the room with artists ranging from Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe to Janelle Kroll (singer for Big Data). A memento of panic-ridden ruminations, Skip Intro does not shy away from difficult topics, bringing listeners into the darkness as Regensburg unabashedly confronts himself.
Today we are excited to premiere the new track “Hook” – streaming below! It’s exciting to hear something this fresh and exciting. “Hook” bounces, pops, grooves, and will have you nodding your head to that beat all day. If “Mutant Pop” didn’t really make sense when you read it, after listening to the track you’ll understand.
In his own words:
“Hook” emerged from a blossoming romance between my wife (rapper Push Push) and I. What started as a casual flirtation (she was visiting from South Africa, I had just moved to LA to live with Tommy Lee) quickly became full blown infatuation.
