Heather Gruber has traveled a long road in a short time.
One of the LA-based singer-songwriter’s idols must be Donovan because Gruber brings sunshine and she’s a superwoman.
Her recent full-length album Dance Into the Desert is a superb selection of upbeat songs that could wring emotion from a stone. That’s because the listener truly feels Gruber’s journey and the devotion she is putting into the music.
Gruber has traveled the U.S. in search of the stories to put to music and writes about the events that have shaped her. It’s a sparce sound, but unique in that there is a remarkable richness to the ideals put forth, contrasted with a true and appealing simplicity of production.
Heather Gruber Shares Experience
The songwriting shows that Gruber has had her share of experiences. And her main goal right now is to share those experiences with the listeners.
Dance into the Desert opens with “Beauty Outside the Lines” an upbeat tune that enables the listener to relate to Gruber’s enthusiastic reminder to stay strong. “Lost My Halo,” which will immediately connect with anyone who has ever “tried to make it” in Los Angeles. While the city offers success, many go through an internal process evaluating Quid Pro Quo.

Conquering the Obstacles in Life
“Perfect Day” keeps the mood going with the straight-ahead tone that we can conquer anything in the way of success, whatever that may be deemed to be. “What’s so Good about Being Young?” is the final selection on the record and it’s an eye-opening tune about responsibility and the burden that’s carried by the new generation.
Life in general has burdens. But with Dance into the Desert, Gruber enables her listeners to enjoy the good times and forsake the struggle — if only for a few minutes.
