Brooklyn-based artist Maya Solovey has a treat for us today with the premiere of her new video for “Cachorro Quente (Hot Dog)”
The song and video do a great job of cultivating a serious mood, contrasted with a lighthearted subject.
In Maya’s own words:
“Cachorro Quente” means “Hot Dog” in Portuguese. This song is a love story between a hot dog and its bun. It was originally written for a film that never got made. The song is a serious joke that doesn’t take itself seriously.(I also happen to not eat meat really, and have never had a hot dog myself.)
The song has a Tarentino-esque vibe, with spaghetti western guitars, and features an old instrument first introduced by the Beatles, called the Melotron. It is a series of tape reels that feature different sounds, that you play with piano like keys– the first “sampler” really.
The Video is a One-Shot that we filmed in a joyous rainy frenzy at the end of another video shoot.
