With street percussion, saxophone, voices, visuals, and printed material, Brooklyn-based band, Gurus is one big multimedia project. The group is gearing up for the release of their forthcoming LP ‘Unconditional Surrender,’ it officially drops on on May 6, however GroundSounds has the exclusive premiere below. Deeply felt and thoroughly convincing, the band’s focus on street percussion evokes spontaneous solidarity as they employ buckets, trash can lids, and metal scraps within their music.

Frontman Michael Friedrich  had this to say about the bands latest record:

“We wanted to build something densely layered that came from the group all playing similar elements in different voices. The narrative of ‘Unconditional Surrender’ is the same way. It stacks stories of different people living within a new spiritual group – a cult. In making it we started to see how the sounds and stories are connected and what they reveal.”

Stream ‘Unconditional Surrender’ below and check back for more on Gurus soon.
