GroundSounds recently got wind of an incredible artist hailing from Toronto and we’re stoked to share his music with you! Steve Benjamins recently released his third EP Sightlines and our favorite single “We Used To Live” is streaming below. Beginning with emotional piano chords and soft, steady string arrangements, the song quickly picks up speed with hand claps and an upbeat drum beat. Benjamins’ vocals carry the song into a blissful look back at how fragile life can be at times. With the repeating song title as the main theme, we’re forced to get lost in his sounds while we look back through our own experiences and ponder the things that used to get us excited. It has a sincerity to it that makes it easier to relate to, which is also why I think this song has the potential to be a huge radio hit. I can see this track blaring from the speakers of cars around town and people dancing their troubles away to it. This track is just one of six solid tunes on his new EP, so be sure to check that out, too!
