“Bold and Beautiful.”
The first song released by Charlotte’s Cairo Fire last year lived up to its title. As it turns out, the title is a perfect description of the song, the band, and their new EP Raucous. We’re excited to bring you the first listen of the EP today. Stream the entire EP below and make sure to pick up the album on iTunes, Spotify, and AmazonMP3
Cairo Fire began when former American Idol contestant Will White joined forces with twin brothers and musicians/producers Michael and Joseph Pepe. The trio added drummer Pat Gerasia soon after and began crafting the songs that would become Raucous. What they’ve created is a fun, energetic, unique batch of songs that are guaranteed to get you moving.
After a brief intro, “Backseat” gets the EP started with an infectious beat and melody, complemented perfectly by White’s unique, smoky voice. “Midnight” follows and only further highlights the band’s talent and songwriting skill. The aforementioned “Bold and Beautiful” follows, treating the listener to soaring hooks and an unforgettable vocal performance on the bridge.
“I Like It” keeps the EP moving forward with a bit of a curveball. The track starts out with a heavy influence of southern-tinged rock. For the dose of electro-pop/rock the band has been dishing out, this track arrives as a definite surprise. The song ends up fusing this southern vibe with electronic elements and the pop polish the band does so well. It’s an intriguing track that starts out raising your eyebrow, but by the time it finishes it’ll convert you and raise your fist instead.
The final touch on Raucous is a more mid-tempo track called “Need You Much,” which perfectly showcases White’s vocals and the band’s range. The song is what many pop bands attempt to write, but most can’t pull it off this well. It’s an absolute gem to finish off a fun, exciting, and substantive EP that will only leave you wanting more from the Charlotte four-piece.
