Check out the fresh new pair of tracks on this 7″ from Dublin-based group Ships. Ships consists of Sorca McGrath and Simon Cullen (aka Lasertom). They made first waves at home with their infectious synth-pop anthem “You’re Gonna Feel It” in 2012, before garnering even more domestic praise with the more refined and subtle follow-up single “Places”. The song’s release also marked the beginning of the recording process for Ships’ forthcoming debut full-length, but before that is released, we’re given their “Space Inside” b/w “None Of It Real” as a 7” on Berlin-based imprint Stratosfear. The a-side is an energetic, dance-ready, electro-pop killer, exemplifying a groove that feels like classic 70s disco. Slightly off the mark compared to the rest of Ships’ new material but “simply too fun to ignore” in the words of the musicians, “Space Inside” is tailor-made to come out on a 7” single. The flip-side, “None Of It Real” feels a bit different than the a-side, showing a more mellow and calm vibe, with a more restrained synth instrumentation that leaves more space for McGrath’s vocal to unfold. Enjoy the new tracks below!
