ARK IDENTITY entered the scene with the psychedelic dream pop debut single, “Eyes,” on May 22nd. Now, Noah Mroueh is returning with a second taste of the project via the nostalgic and wistful new indie pop song, “Atmosphere.”
The laidback and melancholic track fuses psychedelic flourishes with articulate bass and melodic guitar, providing a meditative backdrop for Mroueh‘s vocals.
“Atmosphere” symbolizes a wish to escape from the constant changes and pressures of life. The atmosphere serves as a metaphor for a place of freedom and detachment from society.
What did you enjoy most about the recording process of this new release?
For me, the most enjoyable thing was the spontaneous nature of how it all came together. I was on a trip in LA at the time. On a whim, I decided to text my producer to see if he was available to work on the track. I took a 2-hour Uber out of downtown LA and rented an Airbnb close to Phil’s home studio in Orange County. Making this record was so much fun. We were just hanging out and having a good time while recording a song that I felt was ready to be brought to life.
Share a nugget of advice that has resonated with you most over the years.
One piece of advice that has always resonated with me is to trust your gut instincts when creating. I always emphasize the importance of authenticity and letting creativity flow naturally, rather than forcing ideas or directions that might not feel genuine.
Who would be your dream artist/band to co-headline a tour with?
My dream would be to co-headline a tour with Tame Impala. Kevin Parker’s innovative sound and artistic vision have always been a huge inspiration to me. I think our styles would complement each other well.
What sets your music apart from others in your genre?
I believe what sets my music apart is the way I allow songs to organically build. I strive to create a sound that is both captivating and emotionally resonant. I love to surprise the listener whenever I can.
Tell us what your favourite song is at the moment and why.
Currently, my favourite song is “Are You Looking Up” by Mk.gee. I was immediately captivated by this song and the sounds on his latest record. It feels so familiar yet alien at the same time, and that’s why I love it.
