Shinedown Starts 2022 At “Planet Zero”

And just like that, Shinedown has a new track out! Today they bring their lead single “Planet Zero” off their upcoming album, titled the same, Planet Zero, set to come out April 22, 2022. Coming off their movie Attention Attention that was released September 3rd, 2021, which you can find here, we hadn’t heard some new music from Shinedown since last year’s “Atlas Falls”. This being the first single of the year for the group, and brought a lot of other news along with the new single out now!

First we have to get into this being the first single of the year. “Planet Zero” gives you everything that you want when you think Shinedown. You have the heavy riffs coming from Zach Myers and Eric Bass, big vocals from Brent Smith, and the heavy hits of drums from Barry Kerch. As well as some serious meaning in the lyrics, Brent Smith went on to talk about the single and how we are unaware of things happening around us daily.

Definitely puts things in perspective “for all of us as,” and really makes you want to do better! Really look at the things that we may be missing that are happening in our day to day life. An incisive look at the issues at hand: cancel culture run rampant, the corrosive effects of social media on mental health and society, and the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies. These are things that are really making a mark on our way of living and thinking. But if we have conversations with each other on topics like this, we will start to understand each other more and more. Understanding brings resolve and takes away fear of the unknown.

Another big announcement from Shinedown will be hitting the road in support of Planet Zero starting tonight in San Francisco at The Warfield, before heading to Los Angeles for a show at The Wiltern on January 28th. Fast-rising rock artist and one to watch, Ayron Jones, opens for Shinedown on this run through early February. Shinedown will take their tour to more cities all across the U.S. in April and May, with special guests The Pretty Reckless and DIAMANTE. Later in May, Shinedown will head to Daytona Beach for Welcome To Rockville 2022 where they’ll headline Saturday, May 21 alongside Guns N’ Roses and Rise Against. In June, Shinedown will head overseas for a UK and European run featuring festival appearances at Rock in Park and Rock an Ring in Germany, Download Festival in the UK, and HellFest in France along with select shows with Iron Maiden.
