Premiere today is Tarah Who?, which consists of Tarah Carpenter and Coralie Hervé, are premiering their video of ‘La Petite Boche: Un Amour de Guerre’. ‘La Petite Boche’ has been dedicated to Tarah’s Mother, who are very close. Tarah’s mother gave her the interest in music groups like Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, and many other groups. Tarah chose La Petite Boche, for that was what people would call her mother due to her grandparents being a German Solider and a French women in 1943.
The song itself, is a great jam that gives you some feel of some classic rock riffs, while combining the talented voice of Tarah, making for a great tribute to her mother. The song is something you want to listen to and jam out to with some friends or even when your by yourself and need some great positive energy.
Originally from France, Tarah began her music career smashing away on the drums at 14. All the while ignoring the nay sayers who said she should be more “Lady Like” and should put the drums down. Willful, and somewhat stubborn, she honed her chops, forged her own creative path, and branched out to bass, guitar, singing, songwriting, and producing. After a fateful move to Los Angeles, Tarah made her solo debut as Tarah Who? at a warehouse party. It was a gig she found on Craigslist, and it proved to be the perfect opportunity to share the songs she had been writing privately. Soon after Tarah connected with drummer Coralie Herve and this is when the current incarnation of Tarah Who? was born.
When asked about “La Petite Boche” and dedication to her mother Tarah said, ” My mom and I are really close. She introduced me to rock music while blasting Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Tangerine Dream, Bon Jovi etc. while cleaning the house. Then I started introducing her to my kind of music. While commuting to school, we would split headphones and daydream, looking out the windows in the metro of Paris. Then when I had my first HIFI Stereo system and in the evening, we would go to my room, lie down on the floor and I would play the bands I had discovered really loud, until we could feel the vibrations of the bass, and drums. I didn’t know how to name this song. Then I remembered that people used to call my mom “La petite Boche “ as a child because she was born to a German soldier and a French mother in 1943. I wanted to use this somehow, to remind people that calling each other names is not right but also as a reminder of that time in History. My Godmother came up with this title, which turns out to be a little poetic and my mom approved. The music video is less personal. I wanted to do something simple and more mother/daughter so that it would be for all of the mothers. Coralie and I added some flowers and balloons in the background and we performed via Zoom because of Covid! “
