Manchester star SVMI has released a new single and video in ‘P.O.P. (Hold It Down)’. Produced by LiTek (Rag’n’Bone Man, Bugzy Malone, Central Cee), ‘P.O.P (Hold It Down)’ is an infectious melodic rap track with smooth R&B leanings underpinned by a bouncy bass line and lush synths, over which SVMI is showcasing the catchy flow, rap skills, singing talent and pop sensibilities that have made him one of the most exciting young prospects coming out of Manchester this year.
Following the breakaway success of his viral hit song ‘Bait Lies’ that has amassed over 3 million
plays and tracks under his belt like ‘Old Friends’ and ‘Timeout’ nearing a million plays, he now has brought ‘P.O.P (Hold It Down)’ to the table to keep the train rolling. Already getting attention from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, GRM Daily, Link Up TV, Mixtape Madness and BBC Introducing, SVMI is growing into a household name.
As SVMI describes it, “This song means a lot to me, I think it really does show how much I’ve improved as an artist and developed both lyrically and creatively”.
Speaking about how the creative ‘P.O.P (Hold It Down)’ video came together, SVMI says, “This video was funny, there was a lot of memories behind it, a lot of work that went into it, and a lot of good people that helped make it come alive. There are some people in the video I don’t even talk to anymore, but that’s why the vid is so special cos it just has loads of different moments from different times that make it a whole vibe. Visually, it looks crazy as well, Archie went crazy on the edit as usual and shown why he’s one of the hardest coming out”.
