With the release of the debut EP ‘Wonderland‘ in 2020, New York’s Start The Week Over stated their ambitions, with a punk seasoned, pop-rock collection, accruing a sound that blends big hooks and intricate guitar work.
Moving into 2021, whilst circumstances have kept the band apart physically, the East Coast quintet haven’t allowed the distance to stifle their creativity. Making the best of a challenging winter, the five took advantage of the writing prowess naturally abundant across the band, allowing not only for a more collaborative process, but also allowing Start The Week Over to marry a more dexterous array of influences.
Today we’re thrilled to premiere their new track “Keepaway” – streaming below! The track is an addicting pop-punk gem with a massive hook. Quite honestly, there’s nothing not to like here, and we’re excited to share it with you!
In their own words:
“We started working on Keepaway right before quarantine, and we got an 80’s power-pop vibe from it right out the gate. We had to write the lyrics and melody over Discord, and we’re super proud of how catchy and tight it came out even though we were in 3 different states.” – Matt Wikstrom
