Daft Punk Breaks Up After 28 Years

After 28 Years of working together in the music industry, Daft Punk has broken up. The group was formed in 1993 in paris.  Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter have worked on some of the most popular dance and pop songs ever made. They’ve worked with artists like Pharrel Williams(Get Lucky), The Weeknd (I Feel It Coming), Kanye West (Stronger) and many others. On February 22nd they released a video on their Youtube channel featuring the two walking in the desert until Bangalter stops and Homem-Christo activates a bomb in his back and then explodes. Afterwards Kathryn Frazier a long time publicist of the group confirmed the break up with no reason given at this time of why they are separating.

The music industry has taken a hit from the shocking news of the break up. Taking to twitter and other platforms to memories or experiences with the duo. Mark Ronson expressed about how “Get Lucky” beat out “Locked out of heaven” By  Bruno Mars and how he couldn’t be mad about how successful they were. The Weeknd expressed that he was “Thankful to be a part of the journey” him being one of the last artist to get to work along with the group. In those 28 years Daft Punk has received six Grammy awards since their first nomination in 1998. They have been featured in movies like Tron: Legacy, as well as Video Games like “Borderlands” They have a massive influence in the arts and a major shock to many to the news.

As a fan of Daft Punk since I heard “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” i’m sad to hear about the groups separation, but i’m happy to have been a fan of their music  and look forward to the future these two will do as possible solo artists or producers. But wish them nothing but the best.
