In 2019, China Tiger launched themselves onto the Australian music scene with debut single “Belly Button”, mixing elements of psych and garage rock with more contemporary pop sounds, and receiving critical acclaim across the world. After launching “Belly Button” with sold-out live shows across Sydney in 2019, the boys were forced to put the brakes on their live performance when Covid struck in 2020.
Rather than wait for the world to open up again, the Tigers took to their studio to begin working on a series of follow-up singles. After honing their sound throughout the year, they return with “With You, It’s a Saturday Night”, a melodically driven pop anthem that’s sure to be stuck in your head throughout the Summer of 2021. We are thrilled to be able to premiere the track TODAY on GroundSounds before its release tomorrow.
The track has a vibe and a groove that hooks you pretty much instantly. It’s catchy, but also laid-back. It’s bouncy, but also chill. It exists in a lot of different musical lanes, but stands out as cool and confident.
In their own words:
“Creatively this song took forever to complete. We almost shelved it numerous times, but I think we knew there was something special with this song. It was like a puzzle trying to fit each individual piece inside… A lot of the track is pop inspired with sprinkles of disco and psychedelic rock over the top. I think we’re at a time where pop is largely embraced by the wider culture. Which is cool to see.”
