With the new year already closing in on two weeks into 2021, Russ and Lil Baby drop ‘Ugly’, Russ’s new song featuring Lil baby. The two are both from Atlanta, Georgia and this marks the first time the two have worked together in the booth. This song is the first of the year for either of them to release. Something that is going to be ringing in our ears until the next hit comes in 2021. “Ugly” comes following a 2020 that was quite the opposite for Russ, who dropped a string of viral hits, including ‘Hard for Me’ and ‘Best on Earth,’ plus his Shake the Snow Globe album and Chomp EP.
Russ talked released the statement below with the music video about really showing the full you, and not being just one thing. “What makes being an artist so liberating is being able to comfortably explore all sides of yourself. In my opinion it’s not just about painting one color over and over again. That’s safe and boring. All the colors, all the emotions, all the different sides of me…that’s what’s most fun about being an artist. That’s why you’ll get songs from me like Losin Control, but then Do It Myself but then Nobody Knows, while also getting Best On Earth & UGLY….I’m EVERYTHING. I’m human and as an artist that’s the only way to be free is to embrace all aspects of yourself.” – Russ
