After almost three years of waiting since his last project, Playboi Carti dropped his second studio album, ‘Whole Lotta Red’, on Christmas Day. The 24-track project sees more innovation and reinvention from the Atlanta rapper, who has added more aggression to his staccato flow to pair with the characteristically eclectic, synth-heavy production from collaborator Pi’erre Bourne and Wheezy, among others. Big names like Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Future show up for some memorable verses, but unlike previous projects from Carti, that is the extent of the features.
The reception from fans on Twitter has been mixed, but “Whole Lotta Red’ is currently on track to overtake Taylor Swift’s recent surprise album, ‘Evermore’, for the #1 album debut in the US with a projected 135,000 units moved in the first week, according to HitsDailyDouble.
