Welcome to the sleek world of frigidkitty: Lexington, Kentucky’s Kim Conlee.
Conlee’s vocals envelop like one of Stevie Nicks’ shawls, and while she is accompanied by a slew of talented friends throughout her debut album Indulgence, it is her own personal backing band of one (playing piano, guitar, flute, synthesizer, and other assorted electronics) that keep these songs in a personal space that feels intentional.
The album is out tomorrow and we’re thrilled to be able to premiere the smooth, endearing, and impressive “Hooks” – streaming below! The track wraps you up immediately and doesn’t let go, fitting perfectly with its title. It’s not every day you get a treat like this. Enjoy and let us know what you think!
In her own words:
“‘Hooks’ is an exploration of addiction and that specific turn from a want to a need. I wrote this song as I was struggling with my own addiction, my own “needs”. I was asking myself, “Do I have it in me to say no? Can I change? Can I grow?” – Kim Conlee
