Celebrating a successful crossover to Latin Pop, six-time Grammy winners Black Eyed Peas have teamed up with Shakira for a colorful new video, “Girl Like Me”. The Latin-inspired song sees Will.i.am busting out some Spanish verses while Shakira dons an 80’s Jazzercise outfit for a mesmerizing dance, with some surprising skateboarding skills as the cherry on top.
The highly-anticipated video dropped on Dec. 4, nearly six months since premiering the track in June, included in the Black Eyed Peas chart-topping Translation album.
Speaking about the song in a statement, Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am said the song was originally written in 2008 but finished this year.
“Shakira and I worked on ‘Girl Like Me’ in 2008,” he said.“I’m so happy it’s out in the world. I’ve always loved the melody, and I’m so happy Shakira and I worked together to release the song and made a video in 2020 for the world to hear and see.”
