- Hotel Fiction Rides The “Ghost Train” In New Single - August 14, 2020
Athens, GA duo Hotel Fiction releases their latest single, “Ghost Train,” following a string of tracks since their 2019 debut, “Astronaut Kids.” The song features ethereal melodies, with cutting vocal harmonies that melt with the sweeping guitar and piano strains. Comprised of bestfriends Jade Long and Jessica Thompson, the duo convey an inherently refreshing and powerful performance.
That comfort and camaraderie between the two are truly felt in the track. The recording process, which took place in the home of Athens producer and artist, Tommy Trautwein, set the perfect setting for this kind of song.
“I love recording in [Tommy’s] house because it feels more like we’re just hanging out and having a good time with friends, and maybe laying down some tracks while we’re at it,” Jessica shared about the recording.
From what I’ve observed in my own life, and especially now, a lot of people are in somewhat of a transitional period, either between jobs, apartments, relationships, what have you. “Ghost Train” is that mythical railroad to your happy place.
“I came up with the term Ghost Train because there was a train that I’d hear in the apartment that I never saw in real life,” Jade shared about writing the track.“I think at the time I really was unhappy where I lived and didn’t really like Athens too much but was hoping to get out to a better place. After writing the song I met Jess and some other incredible friends and after meeting them and joining the Athens music scene, it really feels like home now.”
