Singer-Songwriter Delacey Delivers Raw Authenticity With “Unlovable”

Authenticity and raw vulnerability can be a rare and beautiful gem in the pop world, and that is exactly what LA-based singer and songwriter Delacey delivers in her newest visual release with her song “Unlovable”.

If you’ve listened to music at all within the past decade, you’ve undoubtedly heard a song written by Delacey. The multi-platinum songwriter turned artist has written an enormous 2 billion streams worth of songs for artists including Halsey, Zara Larsson, Demi Lovato, The Chainsmokers, and many more. Her transition into pursuing her own artistry is the gift we’ve all been waiting for and didn’t know we needed. In a world where people play emotions so close to their chests, Delacey has no fear of wearing her heart on her sleeve. The silky soulstress floats between smooth, Lana Del Rey style versus into a beautifully catchy modern pop power chorus.

“Unlovable” is intimate, sexy, soulful, and invokes hope while staring uncertainty in the face. Delacey is in disbelief that she might be deserving of the love she’s receiving. In an era where strength and power in femininity are so wonderfully flourishing, it’s a beautiful reminder to see someone along the journey of insecurity to strength. Her courage of looking into her wounds and battling negative self beliefs is (perhaps accidentally) incredibly inspiring to her listeners.

The music video itself is a work of art. Directed by Aysia Marotta, the piece visually sways in the same way we can imagine Delacey’s emotions swaying. We see scenes of the quiet, private moments shared between lovers intermingled with a dreamy landscape of Delacey on horseback surrounded by golden light and roses. The sensual moments of hesitancy within desire meet the possibilities and light that come from accepting the love being given in this video. When Delacey sings “I wanna believe you” to her love interest, the chemistry present between the two absolutely does justice to the narrative of the song. This is because the man actually IS her love interest, James Alan Ghaleb of Valley boy.

The honesty throughout the entire process speaks to the type of artistry Delacey is bringing to the table. She is strong, she is raw, she is real, and it’s extremely refreshing. “Unlovable” follows several releases from the singers debut LP “Black Coffee”.
