The Rightly So Name New Album ‘Vandura,’ But Music Goes Beyond Life on the Road

By SHARON JENNINGS

Imagine John Denver and Emmy Lou Harris together in a modern-day setting and you’ve got The Rightly So. They’re talented and they know how to mix the moods on their new release, Vandura.

Yes, of course, they have a van and they’ve taken their music on the road, and thusly the name for the new record. But their music is meant for more than just the joints along the road.

The upstate New York-based pair take traditional country and Americana and puts a modern twist on songs that could ultimately become classics in their own right. Anyone can appreciate the results of this duo’s hard work.

“We released a batch of songs we’ve been itching to put out into the world for some time,” The Rightly So said. “A batch of songs that were conceived inside of a 1995 GMC Vandura over 40,000 miles of road, through 36 states across the US.”

These two are doing all the right things to get their music out there in a competitve landscape. They’re touring consistently and getting out the word on their music.

The band thanked: Dylan Hund, Tyler Geercken, Jim Whitford, Bruce Decker, and Lena Pasqualetti. Assistant Engineer Wayne Raymondo. A massive thanks to Ken Rutkowski at Outer Limit Recording Studio for producing and engineering the songs.

Our favorites are “You Can Bet On Me,” “Nothing But the Weather,” and the wistful “Not Coming Home,” which puts a melancholy and beautiful finishing touch on an excellent collection.
