Hailing from NYC, artist Zane Allen West operates like Swiss Army knife for a wide swath of bands and styles in the scene. Now, West is stepping out as ZAALWE with a just-released EP, My Idles, streaming in full with us here today.
Set up as one long piece, ZAALWE masterfully crafts an atmosphere that, while cohesive, feels like a channel surf through West’s internal thoughts. The single, “Lakeside,” has a Randy Newman meets Whitney style to it quickly followed by an Ariel Pink type mind-fizzer in “No Window” as West showcases his potential in quick brilliant bursts.
