Within a year of their first show, Los Angeles-based pop duo Jacob and Fanny had already been signed by industry legend L.A. Reid to Epic Records and worked alongside heavyweights such as John Hill, Dave Cobb, Diane Warren, Ali Tamposi, Amy Wadge and Greg Wells.
Now having gone independent, the duo teamed up with producer John Cunningham [XXXTentacion] who artfully captures the couple’s chemistry on their self-titled five-song EP — highlighting each voice and marrying acoustic instrumentation with synth drops and drum programming. Reflective of an honest relationship, their sound is able to strike a balance between high-energy pop and stripped-down vulnerability.
Today we’re thrilled to premiere their video for “Home” – streaming below! The video is a fun trip to the instantly recognizable So-Cal desert landscape. It’s the perfect accompaniment to the mood and energy of the track. We are loving the reds & blues…almost as much as we are digging the addicting song!
On “Home”
J: “Home” is our personal take on the expression home is where the heart is. When we first started living together, two artists trying to get by in LA, we had to rent out our place to make rent. We’d take our dog, drive to the mountains and sleep in a tent.
F: The struggle was real, but we made the best of it and it ended up bringing us closer together. When we’re in LA, we get caught up in the grind, working all the time. This allowed us to just be together and not lose sight of what’s really important.
On the music video:F: We made this video with the same team that does all our videos. They’re our best friends. Jillian Martin is the director, she’s amazing. We only loosely planned the shots. We wanted to just go out to Joshua Tree and have fun. It’s a magical, beautiful place—super inspiring.
J: A lot of stuff, like us getting stuck in the sand, wasn’t planned. We were actually stuck! Jill was like, “Fanny, sing the song while Jacob’s pushing the car.” The end result is a little dreamy and quirky. I love the vibe. We had a blast making this video and I think it really shows.
