Gabe Greenland is a Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter and producer from Los Angeles, California. Influenced by a disparate hodgepodge of west coast icons such as Stephen Malkmus, Flying Lotus and Russell Westbrook, Greenland combines a deep knowledge of hip-hop production with modern punk-influenced slacker emo to create a personal brand that is both familiar and unique.
Today we’re excited to premiere his new track “Sunbrnd” – from his upcoming album Love & Espionage. The track is incredibly refreshing, with a captivating saxophone dancing around great harmonies – all anchored by Greenland’s unique vocals.
In his own words:
Driving north on the I-5 roughly 20 MPH above the speed limit I can see the shadow of my car keeping pace along daunting expanse of the desert. It’s late afternoon. As the sun meanders downward towards the mountain range in the distance, this patch of darkness tearing across the terrain only grows. I put more weight on the accelerator with comic futility. A shadow is an indefatigable companion. At nightfall, at last, I’m granted solitude… for now.
