Hey there guys! Can you tell me a little more on who you are and how you first got into making music?
MYFEVER is a rock band originally from Panama City, FL. We relocated to Atlanta in 2015 to find some more musicians and overall musical opportunities. We all cut our teeth on contemporary church music growing up and quickly started making bands with original music. There were a handful of other outlets too, including some cover bands (that we’d probably be ok with not mentioning), but honestly I can’t remember a time where I wasn’t interested in writing my own songs once we had started playing.
What’s your songwriting process like? Who are some of your biggest influences?
We really loved Kings of Leon when we first started. It’s been five years but I still think there are rock roots that can be tied back to that band even on our current material. Also, we have had a handful of members cycle in and out and I always feel like Kings of Leon has been a common thread. Aside from that, Ryan Adams, Radiohead, Bon Iver, Coldplay, Arcade Fire. You can’t forget the greats Tom Petty, The Band, Springsteen, Dylan etc, and more recently, Tame Impala, & The War On Drugs.
Do you have any new projects in the works and if so what are some of the themes at play in it?
We’re working on our first LP! We have released several EP’s and are ready to put our big boy pants on. Thematically I think we’re just really trying to stick to the basics and pick the absolute best songs out of the material we’ve made. Inevitably I think that means you pick the songs that inspire you most. On a personal level I’m just trying to figure out how to survive as a rock band honestly. There’s a reason people are turning to electronic music. With rock n’ roll, a lot has already been done and it’s important to me that we add something new to the conversation and not just repeat the old noise.
Any new artists/venues/purveyors of the arts you could turn our readers onto?
I like the word “purveyors”. It sounds smart. There’s a great venue in Charleston, SC that has been so good to us called The Royal American. They love indie rock and music in general and it’s always such a good vibe there with lots of people. If you’re ever in Charleston seriously look them up, there will be a great show happening there guaranteed.
Any parting thoughts you have or want our followers to know?
You guys rule, thanks for giving the little guys, who are working hard, an arm up. We look forward to connecting again. -Weston
