Tyranny of Dave is the Chicago-based project of David Wechsler, a key member of the antique-garde movement in Brooklyn in the 90s and early 2000s with his band Piñataland.  While Piñataland found it’s inspiration in the forgotten stories of the weird old world, this new album looks forward to an American landscape in the possibly not-so-far future. A country that has lost it’s economic and social standing in the world and has retreated to it’s pre-World War status as a large, isolated collection of ne’er-do-wells, crackpots and dreamers who are maybe a little sadder and wiser but are living and thriving in the detritus of economic waste and social restructuring; making sense of their past and forging on towards an uncertain future.

Today we are excited to premiere the new track “Silence In Brooklyn” – streaming below! The track brings a nice energy to its Americana style, and the harmonizing vocals work perfectly with Dave’s unique tone. The song clearly announces the new album as one to firmly plant on your radar.

In his own words:

The flood is comin’, folks! This song is essentially the commercial for my new “Gowanus Lake Sailing Academy and Bait Shop”. (Opening soon!)
Coming in November is the rest of the album with songs about post-fall America — scenes from a country that had it all and decided it was probably more fun to just blow it up.
h/t to Jorge Ben for song inspiration
