You might be familiar with Stolar from the Hall & Oates (featuring Train)’s new charting single “Philly Forget Me Not” or from Aloe Blacc’s rising single “Brooklyn In The Summer,” which has over four million streams on Spotify since its release a few weeks ago. He co-wrote both songs. He is a musician in his own right as well, having released a solo EP called Raw Emotions: West Village, NY. It is a collection of songs from his Raw Emotions campaign which was created to redirect Stolar’s struggles with bipolar disorder and depression into a creative channel. He’s been on our radar at GroundSounds all year, with songs like “Suburbia” and “Grow Up” in constant rotation.
Today we are pumped to premiere his new video for the track “Fucked Up Crazy.” The vertical video provides a snapshot of a night out from a mobile perspective, and compliments one of Stolar’s most memorable songs yet. With each new release, we continue to see why Stolar is a force to be reckoned with in today’s musical landscape.
In his own words:
“I think this video is about REAL life. It is literally a night with a new person I met in New Orleans. She is also Miss Alaska USA and a mental health advocate. It’s real, raw, no bullshit or structuring, it’s just a peak into life. I think it comments on how complicated the balance between real life and technology is. This is the new real, even though it’s digital, it’s life experience. I wanted to share this part of myself with the world so they could see that it’s ok to be a little crazy and wild, it doesn’t make you “good” or “bad”, it’s just you. Crazy, sad, happy, ugly, messy are all beautiful things. I want to celebrate them all.”
