Boston, MA based artists releases their newest single, “Sunset”; a captivating rallying call featuring vocalist and guitarists Matt Rhoades and drummer Austin Bryant’s electronic post-punk sound. This single highlights the possibility of renewal in the midst of personal darkness. Rhoades is drawn to one of the few constants in life – the reassuring notion that the sun will set each day. There is an odd comfort in knowing that, in spite of the madness erupting in the world or in one’s life, the rhythm of the natural world will play out regardless. A sense of optimism plays out as the sun sets, the sky brimming with the hope of what tomorrow could be instead. Rhoades explains his inspiration, penning a letter to whoever is listening, remarking “This is for you.” His vulnerability and candid tone are revealed, as he elaborates, “Last year, after a breakup and life change, I felt I was faced with an existential crisis.”
Rhoades showcases a way in which, in the course of darkness, people can emerge if they hold onto the reality that the sun will set, and a new beginning will come. “Anxiety, mental illness and depression are real, but it can and will get better.”
