A charming hybrid of jazz, rock, and soul, Vinegar Mother claims themselves as ‘a bunch of nerds.’ Originally from Cos Cob, Connecticut and now residing in Brooklyn, they have been hard at work on their debut LP, PHASES.
With a June 8th release, they have now shared their second single from the album, ‘NEXUS.’ Dealing with the complicated and sometimes tumultuous relationship between a child and their parent, the single goes deep into the conflict of authoritative relationships and independence.
The first twenty seconds give electronic feels that resemble a robot coming to life which slowly fades into Julia Zivic’s soul filled tone with lyrics to match. The track has a beautiful arc with a slow build up that intensifies through to the end with the lyric ‘in my soul’ driving the way.
