In 2016, Ward knew he wasn’t living the life he wanted, so he quit his job as a New York technology executive, moved to Los Angeles, and started a band. Since then, Ward has rapidly developed a fanbase of tens of thousands online, written dozens of new songs, played tons of live shows, and cut seven new singles to be released in in 2018. It has been said that Ward’s music reimagines the best alternative from the 80’s and 90’s, and we feel that description couldn’t be more accurate. We are excited to premiere the video for his track “Crush” below. The song gets your toe tapping almost as easily as a Franz Ferdinand classic groove. With “Crush,” Ward delivers a driving, fun, catchy-as-hell gem.

Ward on the video:

“Music videos are always a tough thing for me. I don’t really care for strong storyline narratives, but all my other videos have been just me playing live in a room with a band to the track. With Crush, I wanted to land somewhere between an abstract ‘plot’ I suppose, and also aspects of musical performance. The idea of LA’s frustrating “crush” is about more than just traffic. Being thwarted by LA stereotypes in an abstract space seemed campy and fun to play with. We didn’t really have a plan: just a gigantic green screen, pleather/red/black dress code and a bunch of friends (talented actors all) who joined in.

We shot the video in one Sunday afternoon. The guy who was supposed to do the editing dropped out at the last minute, so I edited it together myself as best I could. Bright colors and heavy film grain seemed right to match the sound. And after all, it was all a great day with fantastic people. I’ll always feel very fortunate to have this lovely memory of a really fun time in my career.”
