Take a listen to the fresh new single “Caffeine & Nicotine” from Brooklyn-based artist Blakeley. At first listen, I could immediately picture this song in the background for an intense video montage of someone working their face off and hustling all the time. It’s got a loud sound and upbeat energy that I feel encourages speed and force. The track is both a mix of Pop and Surf Rock, as Blakeley extolls the virtues of those staples of alternative culture, coffee, and cigarettes. Blakeley writes, produces, and performs all of her own work, which we think is impressive as hell. She is currently at work on an EP with Happy Hound Records, set for release at the end of 2017.
