Portland Oregon’s Kathryn Claire is gearing up to release her new album Bones Will Last… and we are excited to premiere the beautiful, poignant new track “Sweet Chariot” below. Backed with moving instrumental flourishes, Claire’s lyrics and powerful voice provide the backbone for one of the most moving songs you’ve heard recently.
In her own words:
“I describe this song as a “gift”. It feels like it came to me from somewhere else, and I was just the conduit. I wrote the first half of this song in France, the second half in India and the chorus in my home state of Oregon. This song feels universal and timely to me. I feel grateful to have been able to write it and even more grateful to finally share it. It is my hope that this song goes out into the world and gets sung by many people. I have performed it with ensembles, with high school choirs, with audiences old and young and with many of my favorite musicians. Each version is equally profound for me and I look forward to releasing it back out to the world and seeing where it goes.”
