We are super excited to premiere the new music video from L.A. locals The Urban Renewal Project! We’ve loved these guys for a couple years and always enjoy supporting great music. Renowned Hip-Hop duo Camp Lo teamed up with T.U.R.P. for the track “Don’t Ask Y,” which finds the 13-piece musical collective providing a funky, uplifting beat for the duo to play with. T.U.R.P. has become one of the most unique and sought after bands in Los Angeles, playing multiple festivals and well-known venues. The young group is constantly pushing the boundaries between jazz, rock, pop, and hip-hop and is led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist R.W. Enoch, Jr., he had this to say about the latest track:
It was an amazing opportunity for us to work with Hip-Hop legends Camp Lo, and their classic flow came together perfectly with our live band sound on this track. “Don’t Ask Y” is a wake-up call for everyone to be a trailblazer, not a trend chaser.
“Don’t Ask Y” fuses ’90s sounding hip-hop with deep funk beats and powerful brass. The single is reminiscent of early Gorillaz but with the refreshing blast of a live 10-piece horn section. With a quickly growing fan-base, The Urban Renewal Project is certainly setup to have a massive 2017 and we can’t wait to watch them blow up more!
