Junkie Twins

Today we’ve got a really compelling premiere from Brooklyn-via-Australia brother duo The Junkie Twins. They are gearing up to release their new album Push to Exit later this month, and today we’re thrilled to share the new track “Long Walk Home.”  The intriguing track begins quietly before unfolding into a rich, vibrant, impressive song. You’ll want to give this one multiple plays.

Singer/Guitarist Anthony Gill on the new track:

“I had the music for a while but could never really find the melody. One day I saw a close up of a blue eye—I can’t remember if it was still or perhaps from a film–that looked like Earth from outer space. I grabbed my notebook and wrote “The reflection of the world I see within your eye, and within me” and the music flowed from there. I can never tell what i’m writing about until its fully complete, I’ll often be mumbling some sort of melody… sometimes the lyrics don’t truly reveal themselves until they’re within the visceral flow of the song. It’s only upon reflection that the meaning will often reveal itself.

The inspiration behind Long Walk Home is a mind clouded from the clutter that’s in our society, rendering it impossible to break the status quo of what we think we should feel, which is just a self-enabled illusion. It’s not really a love song but a song about being without the material and digital world that clutters my mind, making it hard to think but at the same time thinking I need it. It’s about my own inner struggle with knowing this but still having the unwillingness to truly let go.”
