Take a listen to the new single “Down” and watch the funny music video for “Head on the Floor” from Swedens’ own emerging indie rock quartet Slim Loris. Encompassing sounds that fuse modern pop, solemn moods and 60’s British invasion influence, the band have been steadily gaining popularity since their acclaimed 2011 debut. In 2014 they toured the UK in support of their sophomore album. Later in the year the band returned to the studio together with producer Pecka Hammarstedt and started working on their third album Love and Fear which is due to be released on May 19th 2015.
The single “Down,” streaming below, begins with some epic vocals and then drops into a fast-paced, stomping beat that feels a bit like a Mumford & Sons track, but with more of an Arcade Fire feel to it. There are even elements of Rooney, or similar Pop/Rock acts like that, subtly shining through the cracks in this song. With a long list of accolades, including playing at the Cavern Club in Liverpool and headlining the IPO-festival in Stockholm on May 24th 2015, there’s high hopes for this group and we here at GroundSounds can usually call this stuff a year in advance (yep, that’s bragging), but I would keep an eye on these fellas!
