1. Husky

Melbourne Alt/Folk band Husky has a style that’s not unfamiliar to many of the folk & Americana mainstays here in the States. These Aussies may just do things a little bit better though, with big pop sensibilities mixed into the folk roots and a knack for creating that lasting hook. Everything we’ve heard from their new album so far has been crisp and refreshing. Look out for Ruckers Hill on October 17th, it should be a 2014 highlight.

2. Pepa Knight

New South Wales singer/songwriter Pepa Knight is tapping into Indian influences and creating some beautiful music. He’s only released a couple solo songs so far, but be on the lookout for more new music as it is released. Learn more about Pepa in our Interview

“Rahh!”

3. Jakubi

Melbourne’s Jakubi offer an eclectic mix of styles such as pop, funk, hip-hop and rock. They’ve built a big following quickly and are on track for big things. We’ve been fortunate enough to interview these lads as well, check that out here

4. The Griswolds

Sydney’s The Griswolds have made a big splash in a short amount of time. Their debut EP Heart of a Lion boasted instantly memorable sun-kissed indie pop, with the title track and “Mississippi” creating a big buzz for the band. They released their debut full-length Be Impressive this Summer, and the album is nothing if not impressive. Expanding on their work on the EP, Be Impressive sees the band’s laid-back attitude shine through in a catchy, synth-happy 11 song sing-a-long.

“Beware The Dog”

5. L-Fresh The Lion

Hip-hop with positive and uplifting lyrics? It’s out there; you just have to know where to look. L-Fresh The Lion’s debut album ONE is impressive, impactful, and fun to listen to. If you’re in the mood for a breath of fresh air in your hip-hop diet, look no further than L-Fresh.
