In the remaining weeks of Summer, we’re left with much to think about. We ponder how we’ve changed, what we’ve learned about ourselves, and how we will bring momentum into the next season and ultimately into the new year. All of these things are at the forefront of the emotional new single “Something Had To Give” from mysterious UK outfit COMPNY. Beginning with somber piano chords and powerful, airy vocals, you already know it’s going to be great. The percussion is driving and the catchy horn melodies for the main hook will be stuck in your head for days to come. The soft lead vocal is reminiscent of certain 90’s alt-pop, though the sincerity and meaningfulness of the lyrics comes through very strong. While they’ve only released one other track (also below!), we’re definitely getting excited for their full length, as that will surely be full of more crisp, beautiful tunes like these two songs.
