Interview: Billard – Keeping it 1Hunnet

Cleveland artist/producer Billard is charging at the game full force. After recently getting a call from MGK to do some work, things have only gotten better…learn more about Billard in our interview below!

 

Whats happenin’ bro, hows life treatin’ ya?

I’m good man, life is 1Hunnet. I’m young and just enjoying each and every day.

Love the ‘All Eyez On Me’ joint, the vibe is great, the hook is nice, and the bars are solid…didn’t know you produced as well. What did you get into first, rapping or producing?

Thanks man, I really love this track too. I started rapping at a younger age but I took producing more serious once I really learned who I am as an artist. Things became easier once I was comfortable with myself.

How did you link up with MGK for the collab?

It’s a crazy story actually, I was just making beats in the lab when I got a call from an unknown number and was like damn who is this? I answered the call as it was a 216 area code and all I hear is “Yo what’s up its Kells.” My heart kinda dropped no lie. He said I was really dope and he wanted to work together. So we talked back and forth until he flew out from LA back to Cleveland to record “All Eyez On Me.”

I feel like you came out of nowhere on the music scene…how long have you been puttin’ in work?

Yea that’s what it looks like! Haha I have been putting in work for years I have just been laying low until I was ready to show the world greatness.

Are you originally from the 216?

Yes I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio…. BIFC

How do you feel about Lebron returning to the city?

I feel it’s a great moment for our city. LeBron will bring a great economic impact back to Northeast Ohio. The Cleveland Music scene will be poppin again. I couldn’t be happier about it as I’m a huge Bron fan.

Where did the name Billard derive?

Well my nickname was Billy and as every story starts, there was this girl who gave me the name Billard when I was 16 and since then I ran with it.

How do you feel about the overall music scene within the Land?

Man I feel like it’s building I see a new wave coming and I see us on top pretty soon. I see a lot of talent within the city!

What would you say is your biggest accomplishment to date?

My biggest accomplishment so far is my feature with MGK, so stay tuned for what I have in store.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?

I see myself with the greats. I have built a team around me that will help get me to where I want to be and I’m gonna become one of the best.

Who are some of your major musical influences?

I would have to say Jay Z, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross and Drake.

It seems that you have a very original sense of fashion…how do you go about putting your attire together?

I hit the thrift store up lol. But I do it all I just wear what I think looks dope. Not to big on labels and stuff like that.

What can we expect from Billard in the near future?

A new mixtape titled I Am Billard.
And a few singles and shows. But mostly overall nothing but greatness
