Check out the new single “Fool” from LA-based group Howls. You may not recognize Howls by name but may be familiar with the duo, Christian Stone and Annalee Fery, from their work in numerous eclectic LA projects such as Monsters are Waiting, Campfire Girls and Lonely Trees. Their music has extreme depth to it, with seemingly brilliant mixtures of minimalist elements, as well as smooth, haunting, dark-shaded electronica.
The two artists (Annalee and Christian) have been circling in and out of each others atmospheres for years, but only in the past few years did they decide to act on an impulse both had known for far too long; the two were meant to make meaningful art together. Their self-titled debut album, out May 13th, is stuffed with noise-rock riffs, acoustic sounds and growling synths. The album comes out on Buddyhead Records whose roster includes Murder City Devils, the Cassettes, Bonfire Beach and many more, so I’d say Howls are in good company.
