Sydney, Australia indie-rock band The Jezabels recently released their new full-length album The Brink. Filled with deep and beautiful tracks, The Jezabels bring their brand of “intensindie” to life. Soaring choruses and epic soundscapes fill the album and paint an exquisite picture of an ideal indie/pop/alternative sound.

“Beat to Beat,” “The End,” and “Time To Dance” are radio-ready anthems which bring to mind a fuller, richer version of HAIM. Personal favorite “Got Velvet” showcases the band’s melodic hit-making power and singer Hayley Mary’s impressive range, as she confidently takes control of the song, delivering a powerful vocal performance. The album begins with the title track and ends with “All You Need.” These two tracks provide perfect bookends on a confident collection of soaring tracks crafted with skill and purpose.

The band cites a myriad of different and diverse influences, including Arcade Fire and Tori Amos. These two in particular are evident throughout the album, as The Jezabels can best be compared to a dynamic mixture of those two, HAIM, and Florence & The Machine. Skilled songwriting, melodic indie/alternative, and beautiful vocals are hallmarks found in The Brink. Singling out ‘highlights’ in the album is genuinely difficult. The Brink is a truly complete and fantastic album start to finish. To hear/purchase the album and stay updated with the band, be sure to visit them online.
