New and now from the DMV is D-Cal’s latest track “Worst Enemy (God’s Gift Remix)”
With the backdrop of J-Cole’s hit record and an unforgettable scene from the television miniseries “Roots”, D-Cal weaves a tale of how pressures from society drain his will to fight back and keep his identity.
In his own words, D-Cal describes how the song grew from his feeling of powerlessness: “I’ve been told I’m free since I was a child, but I’ve never felt more enslaved than I do now.”
While based upon the rapper’s experiences as an undergrad, the song exposes the emotions of exclusion relatable to many black men and women in today’s America.
The struggle is real. And this new track says it all.
