Welcome to the ‘Weekly Grind’ where GroundSounds Editor-in-Chief Jake Craney recaps the week in music, featuring the latest album releases, tracks, and recommendations. Plus, he keeps you up to date on GroundSounds’ exclusive music news and interviews.

Let’s start this week with the story of Zach Sobiech. If you haven’t seen this video by now, take 20 minutes and watch it. Inspirational story that should give us all a great deal of perspective.

More and more music coming out to keep track of lately. Everyone’s losing their mind over the new Daft Punk album, so that’ll be on the checklist for next week for me to check out. The National’s new album is fantastic. If you’ve enjoyed any of their previous albums, you should love this one as well. I’m only a few times through it, but it might be my favorite album of theirs.

I’d also like to recommend a couple bands that I saw live this week. The Postelles, who I also had the pleasure of interviewing, are a really great band from New York. Their new album …And It Shook Me is out now.

Shout Out Louds, who put on an excellent show at the El Rey, released their fourth full-length earlier this year called Optica. I had the chance to meet the guys from Stockholm after the show—really nice guys. They have a ton of great music if you haven’t heard them yet.

Video interviews we filmed this week: The Postelles, Youngblood Hawke, and Tommy & The High Pilots. Interviews lined up for next week: Y LUV, P.O.S., and You Me & Everyone We Know.
