Artist Spotlight: New Beat Fund

Brendon Goldwasser

New Beat Fund emerged onto the Los Angeles music scene less than two years ago.  Since then, they have been garnering a lot of attention amongst the “who’s who” of music industry people, fans and executives alike.  It could have something to do with the incredible live show that they put on. There’s an interesting energy at their shows that puts you into the perfect state of mind. Their music is hard to categorize, but maybe that’s a good thing. It allows the fans to make up their own mind about whether they’re pop or indie-rock or electro-funk. The fact of the matter is that it sounds good, so stop worrying about what genre it is and start worrying about what you’re going to wear to their next show.

They released their first self-titled EP at the beginning of 2012, which can currently be streamed on Spotify, as well as on their Soundcloud and Bandcamp pages. They currently have over 20,000 views on their music video for ‘Scare Me’ off of the EP. They’ve also recently put out a video for their new single ‘Free Cokaine’. They make some really entertaining music videos, so I suggest you check them all out on their YouTube Channel.

It is always nice to see bands who believe in doing everything themselves. New Beat Fund are the shining example of having creative control over the music they record in the studio, the shows they put on, and the videos they make. Their style is their own, as is their sound. I encourage you all to take a listen! They have some shows coming up that can be found on their Bandcamp page. If you enjoy the music be sure to ‘Like’ their Facebook page, and follow them on Tumblr to get the latest news and updates on new music and upcoming shows.
