Weekly Grind
By Jake Craney
2/15/13
Welcome to the ‘Weekly Grind’ where GroundSounds Editor-in-Chief Jake Craney recaps the week in music, featuring the latest album releases, tracks, and recommendations. Plus, he keeps you up to date on GroundSounds’ exclusive music news and interviews.
The Grind
This week, I’ve been spinning the new Billy Talent album Dead Silence. The Canadian rockers are back with plenty of great guitar-work and energy. This time around, they’ve mixed in some slower and mid-tempo stuff as well. We posted their video for Stand Up and Run last week, check it out if you missed it -http://groundsounds.com/2013/02/07/billy-talent-stand-run/
Standout Tracks:
Runnin’ Across the Tracks
Stand Up and Run
Don’t Count on the Wicked
Dead Silence
The new Coheed & Cambria album is also intriguing. Number City is a great jam. Still letting it grow on me. Digesting a Coheed album is a lot like strapping in for a long super-hero movie.
Hip-Hop wise I’ve been mostly listening to the newest mixtapes from Wale (Folarin) and B.o.B. (Fuck Em We Ball).
I’ve also been listening to a lot more toned-down stuff this week, such as The Neighbourhood, The xx, Sarah Jaffe, Alt-J, St. Lucia, Churchill, and Lord Huron.
Two great interviews coming up next week:
Saturday 2/16 we’ll be interviewing The Bolts, a great LA band who just released their debut album. Check out the video for “The Truth” on their website

Thursday 2/21 we’ll be chatting with a band that is poised to blow up this year–Capital Cities. If you haven’t treated yourself to their music, do so now.

In case you missed it, we had a bunch of interviews from the red carpet at a pre-Grammy party, and four new print interviews. Check those out under the interviews tab.
